Nelson Lim (Ph. D., 2000, University of California, Los Angeles) is a Senior Social Scientist at the RAND Corporation. His diverse research interests include diversity management, human resource management, immigration, and social inequality. In the field of diversity management, his research spans from recruiting to leadership development. He has examined potential obstacles for minorities and females applicants in hiring processes in law enforcement agencies such as the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) and the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). He has analyzed potential barriers for achieving greater diversity in the leadership of various government agencies, including the National Security Agency (NSA) and the United States Air Force. He has developed rigorously ways to construct population benchmarks that go beyond Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and provide clear guidance for personnel practices for the United States Army. Recently, he organized a historic Department of Defense Diversity Summit at RAND Corporation to develop a strategic plan to improve diversity among the United States military leadership. |
