Building and Sustaining a Culture of Engagement at Intuit

Craig S. Ramsay

Intuit

Organizations that achieve a true culture of employee engagement honor employees at the same level as customers and shareholders. Over the last five years, Intuit has built a company culture and set of leadership and organizational practices that focuses on engagement, and as a result, has achieved world-class engagement levels among employees. At Intuit, employee surveys are a simply a confirmation of the real-time engagement practices that take place during everyday business. This session will examine how to define and build an engagement feedback process, a business case linking engagement results to customer outcomes, and the important steps you can take in order to establish these engagement practices in your organization.

While companies today have a multitude of initiatives to improve performance and satisfy the workforce, few have the power to transform than employee engagement. Jack Welch, former chairman and CEO of GE, says employee engagement has to come first. “No company, small or large, will perform in the long run without energized employees who believe in its vision and understand what they need to do to achieve it.” In fact, in a recent Business Week column, he says “employee engagement is the best measure of the health of a company.”

This presentation is designed to offer you a different perspective of what organizations can do to engage the hearts and minds of employees. Alysa Polkes and Molly Rosen of BlessingWhite Inc. will share with us their engagement model, as well as some of their recent research on the state of employee engagement. They will discuss the connection between the company and the individual and how that relationship can set the tone for employee engagement. Michael Dimeo from Boeing will tell the story of how Boeing was able to leverage employee engagement to make process improvements, as well as other benefits they achieved from having an engaged workforce.
