Tracy Layney

Senior Director, HR Strategy

Tracy Layney is Senior Director, International Human Resources for Gap Inc. In this role, Tracy leads a team that is responsible for supporting Gap Inc. employees in London, New York, Tokyo and Shanghai in areas ranging from HR operations to organization effectiveness and learning & development to HR generalist support. Ms. Layney joined Gap Inc. in May 2004 and has held several roles in Human Resources. Most recently, she led HR strategy for the company where she worked with the Executive Vice President, Global HR and Corporate Affairs, as well as other business and HR leaders, to develop the integrated people strategy for Gap Inc.

Prior to joining Gap Inc., Ms. Layney spent most of her career in organization and change consulting. She was a Principle Consultant in the Organization and Change Strategy practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers/IBM Business Consulting Services. In this role, she worked with Fortune 500 clients in the high tech, financial services, retail and healthcare industries on projects ranging from organization design and development to strategic change management. In addition, she has served in various internal and external consulting roles with Levi Strauss & Company and the Center for Applied Research (formerly the Wharton Center for Applied Research).

Ms. Layney is active within the broader Human Resources community. She sits on the Board of Directors for the HR Strategy Forum, and she works closely with institutions including the University of Southern California's Center for Effective Organizations, Cornell’s Center for Advanced Human Resource Studies, and the RBL Institute. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania.
