Paul De Young is a leader in Towers Watson Global Talent Management Consulting Practice. He has 25 years of business and consulting experience. Paul has a broad Human Capital background and his areas of expertise include: workforce measurement and analytics, organization design, leadership assessment and development, employee survey research, workforce planning, instructional design, competency modeling, and process improvement. A representative list of his clients include: Nestle, United Nations, The Walt Disney Company, Yahoo!, Intuit, Verizon, Hewlett Packard, McDonald’s, Toyota, Yamaha Motorsports, Freightliner, ISS, Apollo Group, University of California, MGM Mirage and Rockwell Collins.

Prior to joining Towers Watson, Paul worked in Deloitte Consulting’s Human Capital practice for 11 years. There he led their Talent Management and Organization Strategies and Design service offerings in the West. He also pioneered Deloitte’s workforce analytics consulting practice. Paul worked at International Survey Research in Chicago as a Project Director conducting employee opinion and engagement surveys. He played an internal corporate role as an Organization Development Manager at Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Paul began his career as a Personnel Research Psychologist with the Department of the Navy where he developed several innovative productivity and quality improvement products and services. There he and had the opportunity to work with Dr. W. Edwards Deming and turn his management principles into practice. He also served on the faculty of United States International University Industrial/Organizational graduate program.

Paul received his Ph.D. and an MA in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, San Diego and holds a BA in Psychology and a BS in Biology from the University of California, Irvine. Paul is co-author of “Measuring Organizational Improvement Impact,” and has written several articles in professional journals and trade magazines. Professional affiliations include the Society for Industrial/Organizational Psychology and the Human Resources Planning Society.

Paul is married with two girls ages 7 and 9, both of whom are adopted from China. He is a Southern California native, but spent the better part of a decade in Chicago. He has been back in California for 7 years, but still thawing out from the Chicago winters. In his spare time, Paul enjoys woodworking, particularly designing and making furniture.
